About Debra davis, lcsw

Are you ready to love yourself and your life?

I provide virtual therapy sessions for adults in Oregon and Florida who are struggling with trauma, addiction or grief.

Are you overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety, depression, anger or guilt, and don’t know how to process them or heal from the past?

please Hear me when I say:

You’ve come to the right place.

I’m Debbie, and I help men and women just like you: people that have it within them to heal and grow, but just need the right support to get there. I help my clients find self-love, inner peace, and fulfillment by equipping them with the tools they need to connect with themselves, others, and their higher power.

Many of today’s solutions for recovery and healing from addiction, trauma, and loss are based on doing what others tell you to do in a “one-size-fits-all” formula, leading so many to feel that they are doing it wrong or failing. I know that your circumstances are unique, and you are unique, therefore your path to recovery and healing will be unique. I believe you are your own best expert and have the wisdom inside you to heal and move forward. My job is to help you discover that innate wisdom and work with you to achieve your goals.

First, we look at the areas of your life that are not working or where you feel stuck, and how this is causing you to repeat unhealthy behavior patterns such as addiction, isolation, or relationship problems. Then we will work together to help you heal and grow by looking at the root causes of addiction, healing past trauma, processing grief and loss, and growing spiritually and personally. Through our work together, you’ll be equipped with the skills and confidence you need to feel empowered in your life, more connected in your relationships, and joyful in recovery.

How I work

I am dedicated to helping people find freedom, connection, and joy!

My training as a psychotherapist means that I have the expertise you need and deserve to help you learn the skills, develop confidence, find freedom from the past, and live joyfully in the present. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to be emotionally healthy in recovery, and who understands healing from past trauma or loss, right?

I get it, because I have been there. I have been in recovery for over 35 years and have been through my own trauma. I learned from a young age to hide my true feelings to protect myself from being hurt. This led to a sense of not feeling safe in the world as well as not trusting myself, others, or God. My journey of self-discovery included doing my own therapy and inner work, including attending AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics), and Al-Anon and developing a strong relationship with a power greater than myself. I also endured tremendous loss when my only son passed away at the age of 26 from mental illness and substance abuse.

I have dedicated my life to personal and spiritual growth, and to helping others on the path. I know that feeling stuck in an endless loop of addiction, anxiety, guilt, and remorse is hard and that sometimes you just want to give up. There is hope! When we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist—you’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through and who will help you find your own way.
